Sony's "Video On Demand powered by Qriocity™" now live in Australia
New release and catalogue movies available via BRAVIA® HDTV, Blu-ray Disc™ Player and Blu-ray Disc Home Theatre System
Sydney — 30 June 2011 — Sony Australia today announced the immediate availability of "Video On Demand powered by Qriocity™" in Australia. Adding to the breadth of content already available through BRAVIA Internet Video, the new on-demand premium streaming video service allows film fans to rent from a growing library of hundreds of Hollywood blockbusters.
Films from major Hollywood studios as well as local independent studios can be streamed straight to Sony 2010 and 2011 models of network-enabled BRAVIA® HDTVs, Blu-ray Disc™ players and Blu-ray Disc Home Theatre systems.
Designed to be simple, intuitive and easy to use, "Video On Demand powered by Qriocity™" is an elegant and fast virtual movie store that is available across connected Sony devices. "Video On Demand powered by Qriocity" allows consumers to browse, search, preview and select movies with a single click of the remote control.
Rental prices for High Definition content will range from $5.99-6.99 while those for Standard Definition content will range from $3.99-4.99. After renting a film, consumers have up to 30 days to start watching their movie, and once playback is started, they have up to 48 hours to watch the film as many times as they like.
Sharon Ashworth, Sony Australia's Content Partnership Manager, said, "2011 is the year of the smart TV — and what's smarter than sitting back, relaxing and watching the latest High Definition movies streamed straight to the Sony Internet TV device or Blu-ray Disc Player in your living room? The addition of "Video On Demand powered by Qriocity" complements the range of accessible content already available through our network-enabled home entertainment devices. Music, sport, food, travel, catch up TV, YouTube and now full length films — there's something available on-demand for every member of the family."
"Video on Demand powered by Qriocity" started in April 2010 in the U.S. and is also available in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the UK, Japan and Canada.
